Continuous Fluidized Bed Cooling System, is a Fluidized Bed Dryer, employs the fluidization concept to maximize surface exposure for cooling purposes. These are small, basic devices made to swiftly cool heated solid objects to any temperature higher than room temperature.

The Distributor plate divides the two cylindrical bodies that make up the Fluidized Bed Cooler. A range of air nozzles are included in the distributor plate, which is the main plate of the “wind box,” through which cold ambient air is supplied to fluidize the material. When similar surfaces come into touch with the cold air produced by the nozzles, the material to be cooled forms a fluidized bed as a result. There are several tubes conveying water within the bed. The tubes are spaced apart to provide for optimal heat transmission area without obstructing fluidization.

The material that has to be cooled is injected into the fluid bed from one end and flows in a fluid condition to the other end. Via the discharge chute, the cooled material exits the cooler and enters the vibrating feeder/conveyor. Through the tubes that are fully submerged in the material bed, cold water is circulated in a countercurrent. In this technique, cold water does not come into direct touch with the substance. Air just helps to retain the substance in a fluid state; cold water removes the majority of the heat. The cooling water is recycled using a spray pond or cooling tower, or it is used in another operation.
